I have to admit I laughed when I read the recipe contents; Quinoa, Blueberries and Butternut Squash. They seemed more like something from a Health-Conscious Café recipe rather than a Dog Food Recipe.
Larry, my 3-year old Cavoodle has picked this one from the Mindiampets Dog Food Recipes as his favorite so far.
I’m really enjoying making the recipes as I know exactly what goes into the product.
Most of their recipes seem to have a 5 to 7-day shelf life; which I am OK with as I would rather feed Larry a natural product than something that has to include preservatives to get a longer shelf life. Fresh is best every time.
Mindiampets Homemade Dog Food Recipe #3 (Quinoa, Blueberries and Butternut Squash)
With this recipe substitute the 25% Brown Rice with the same quantity of Quinoa (this is used in many commercially available Dry Food Kibbles). We would suggest the Red Quinoa as it has a firmer texture. Once again you could substitute some of the Vegetable content from #1 and replace with Apples, Blueberries and Butternut Squash.
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Protein such as Chicken or Turkey and Peas
- 1 Cup Red Quinoa
- 1 Cup Fruit & Vegetables Apples, Blueberries and Butternut Squash
Instructions
- Cook until firmest Vegetables/Fruit are tender.
- Remove from heat and serve when cooled.
Notes
Portion into airtight container(s); can be kept in the fridge for 5 days.

I was reminiscing about this recipe for myself the other day, then though “can i make something like this for me dog”. Well yes, apparently. I whipped this together in about 10 minutes. My Bella loved it. I will make it again thanks for providing the details.
