The 10 Best Dog Treats For Small Dogs

best dog treats for small dogs

If you have a smaller cuter dog, then take a look at this list of the best dog treats for small dogs.

We all know small dogs are cute and what makes them so perfect and adorable is watching them snack on tasty treats that we have hand made for them.

Our furry friend needs to get the best when it comes to healthy snacks, as I have seen with my best friend who has a small Maltese terrier.

She was always taking about how her dog is such a picky eater when it comes to snacks, so I put together these recipes for her and baked up about three or four different ones, then gave them to her in a plastic container to try out.

Her dog loved them! she was so happy!

I told her about the ingredients in each of the recipes and that I only used organic ingredients, even filtered water.

Being a vegan, she now uses these recipes each month and bakes her own organic dog treats instead of buying processed dog treats from the supermarket.

Ingredients

  • Cups Whole-meal flour
  • 2 Cups Rolled Oats
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 Apple cored and grated (Granny Smith is good as less sweet) (leave peel on)
  • 1 Cup Carrots (peeled and grated)
  • 1 Egg (lightly beaten)
  • Cup Light Vegetable oil
  • ¼ Water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (180 deg Celsius).
  • Grease baking tray, or line with Baking Paper.
  • Core and grate the Apples of choice. Peel and grate the Carrots (I used food processor).
  • You will need 2 medium sized mixing bowls; one for the dry ingredients and one for the wet ingredients.
  • In Bowl 1, mix the Flour, Rolled Oats, and Brown Sugar.
  • In Bowl 2, beat the Egg and mix in the Vegetable Oil, Water, and grated Apples and Carrots. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients bowl and mix thoroughly.
  • Roll out the dough carefully, then using your favorite cookie cutter cut the cookies to shape.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until apple juices are soaked and biscuits are firm. Check on progress around 30 minutes.

Notes

Cool completely before feeding your dog the finished biscuits. Put the remaining biscuits into an airtight container and store in a cupboard (outside of reach for your dog).
