There has been a great initiative in the media recently where the theme was to ‘holiday at home’, as a way of helping people out after the bushfires.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on that gaining much momentum. Border closures, businesses closed, parks closed, flight restrictions, all played their part in that situation over and above all the health and economic causes.
However, not everyone has lost their job and a holiday at home is something that they can still afford. We would like to urge those people to still ‘holiday at home’ this year, and next probable.
Make sure that any border of property closures have ended before you make your booking.
Here are our suggested ‘holiday at home’ ideas that incorporate taking your dog on holiday with you for the State of Queensland.

Ovolo ‘Inchcolm’ – Spring Hill (Brisbane)
This pet friendly boutique hotel is conveniently located in Spring Hill, right on the edge of the Brisbane CBD.
This is one of the best from our selection on the best dog friendly hotels Queensland.
It is also close to New Farm; an area filled with eclectic shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as right on the edge of Fortitude Valley for everything that they have to offer. Did someone say shopping, dining, or night life?
The building is classic Queenslander in style but on the inside, everything is up to date and very chic.
You won’t find a pool or gym at this property, but you will find great food at the inhouse Salon de Co restaurant and Bar, and they also do a fantastic High Tea for something different.
This is actually the 3rd Ovolo Boutique Hotel we have highlighted; along with one in Fortitude Valley (Brisbane) and Wooloomooloo (Sydney). Good on them for their unique approach to including dogs in their accommodation.
The concept is similar with all 3 hotels, boutique style, great locations, dog friendly with awesome gifts for you and your dog.
Based on their other sites they do charge a fee for the dog.

The 1st Best Rated Dog Friendly Hotel Western QLD
Spicers Hidden Vale – Grandchester
After an extensive unsuccessful search for pet friendly hotels in Western Queensland we have settled on this property about an hour West of Brisbane.
It would be a perfect hotel stop at the beginning or end of your Queensland adventure.
It is a beautiful property with 2 pools and the amazing Homage Restaurant; that will also do takeaways if you are heading off on a drive sightseeing.
A beautiful restaurant, 2 pools to relax in, lovely accommodation; I think that fits with our brief of “ dog friendly accommodation with pool”.
They are pet friendly and even offer a ‘Pooch Package’, for your stay in the Chinese Cottage; being the allocated pet-friendly accommodation.
Here is a link to their pet friendly package and terms and conditions.
