When writing about pet friendly weekend getaways Tasmania, I need to stress that we are not in the tourism and travel industry, so things like booking fees, seasonal rates etc. are best left to those in the know.
Whether that be a travel agency, direct with the property, or online booking yourself through the various booking apps and platforms such as Webjet, Hotel Club, Trivago, Last minute, etc.
With this resource we simply want to highlight some places that could be somewhere different, and somewhere that is fun for people and their dogs.
There are many options out there and we are proud to say that ‘Pet friendly accommodation’ offers so many of them. We have included accommodation that is free, right through to 5-star luxury hotels with a balance of locations too.
Everybody has different wants and needs and we hope we have satisfied as many as possible here.

Sandpiper Ocean Cottages – Douglas River (East Coast)
Douglas River is on the east coast of Tasmania; around a 10-minute drive north of Bicheno.
It is also close for day trips to Bay of Fires or Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay.
Each cottage at Sandpiper Ocean Cottages is private, thanks to being spread out over 4-acres of coastal gardens.
It is a short walk through the dunes to Denison Beach.
The cottages are all self-equipped; kitchens, laundry, deck, BBQ. Aside from the 4 x 2-bedroom cottages there is also a 1-bedroom cottage or even a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house on its own private 40-acre grounds.
Well-behaved dogs are permitted; there is a $10 fee per dog, per cottage.
