Western Australia is huge, bigger that some overseas countries.
There can be long distances between many tourist destinations; a different landscape, flora and fauna to the rest of the country as well.
Be mindful of the distances because they will affect your pet as well as you.
Plenty of breaks for a stretch or toilet stop, plenty of water and something to eat; somewhere for them to rest in the vehicle while you drive, and never leave them alone in a vehicle as the heat can have devastating results.

Lavendale Farmstay & Cottages – Gilgering, Avon Valley (via York)
We have chosen a farm stay as an alternative to the previous luxury choice.
With 64HA to explore this is a great place to get back in touch with nature as well as the farm animals.
The property is around 96KM from Perth; here is a link to how to get there; https://www.lavendalefarm.com/location/
There is a wide variety of animals on the farm; Alpacas, cattle, chickens, donkeys, ducks, goats, horses, pet pigs and sheep.
Guests are encouraged to help feed the animals each evening.
They have a selection of accommodation types with the dog friendly options being any of the cottages except for “The Farmhouse” and “The Quarters”.
There is a dog policy that they supply for you to be familiar with, along with a small surcharge which you should discuss with them prior to making your booking.

(includes Bunbury, Augusta, Albany, Nannup, Bussleton)
Broadwater Resort – Bussleton
Bussleton is a coastal city between Bunbury and Margaret River, around 230KM south of Perth.
There are great things to do there such as visiting the Aquarium, long walks along the beach, the arts, cafés and restaurants, fishing, and whale watching to name a few.
This resort has facilities such as a beach, tennis, swimming pools (1 indoor & 1 outdoor) and an inhouse bar and restaurant.
They are pet friendly for most of the year; Christmas/New Year holiday season, Easter and school holiday periods are excluded.
There are 2 dog beaches near the resort. Currently there is a $27.50 surcharge, per night per dog; the resort does supply your dog with bowls, bed and a blanket.

Sunnyhurst Chalets – Bridgetown
Bridgetown is a small town around 95KM SE from Bunbury and 257 south from Perth.
It gets its name as it is on the banks of the Blackwood River. It is affectionately called “The Winter Capital of WA”, as it has a 3-month Winter Festival each year, with food, arts, exhibitions and the Banquet on the Bridge that is booked out each year.
This property is only 3KM out of town; a farm stay with a collection of Swiss-style timber chalets and quite a few farm animals too.
There are 4 x 2-bedroom chalets sleeping up to 6 people, or a 4-bedroom chalet that sleeps up to 10 people.
They have a pool, their own mini-golf course and there is even a winery just next door.
They are pet friendly; approved pets are allowed inside. You will need the managers approval before you make a booking.

Wintersun Caravan & Tourist Park – Carnarvon
Carnarvon is a coastal town around 900KM N of Perth which is an ideal getwaya for dog friendly resorts WA.
To the N of the town is Ningaloo Reef and the tourist town of Exmouth. Shark Bay is to the south of the town.
We have chosen this property as many tourist parks have a wide number of facilities to make it resort-like, but at a lower price point.
They have a variety of pet friendly accommodation options; camping and caravan sites and also a selection of cabins and chalets.
These options are all dependent on the managers prior approval, availability and seasonality as a cleaning fee applies where you haven’t used your dog’s bed and have used bedding in the cabins.

Broome & North West
(includes Karratha, Port Hedland, Marble Bay, The Kimberley, Kununurra, Fitzroy Crossing, Halls Creek, Pilbara, Lake Argyle)
Lake Argyle Resort & Caravan Park – Lake Argyle
Lake Argyle was created by the Ord River Dam and is so big that it is now classed as an inland sea.
It’s volume when full is around 20 times that of Sydney Harbour. It is a drive of around 40-minutes from Kununurra.
This property is in a great position with lake views. Pet friendly options here exclude the actual “Lake View Villas” but do include the Cabins and Caravan/Camping sites. Mention your dog’s requirements prior to booking.
There is a restaurant onsite as well as the stunning Infinity Pool overlooking the lake from up high.

525 Lake Argyle Road, Lake Argyle, WA 6743
Kimberley Croc Motel – Kununurra
We chose this motel as a resort alternative, due to the lack of resort properties in the state and also because of the great efforts put into making this property dog friendly.
There is a pampered pet package here and that means making your booking by phone direct to the motel as they only use specific rooms.
Their package includes a pet ensuite, pet bedding and food bowl, as well as a “doggy bag” for your pet, no matter it’s age or size.

La Cabane Retreat – Esperance

They are dog friendly with a variety of accommodation options.
We suggest you give them a call and get the approval for your dog before making your booking.

Wave Rock Lakeside Resort and Caravan Park – Hyden (Golden Outback)
This low-key country resort sits alongside Lake Magic and is around 335KM east of Perth.
The Wave Rock natural formation is shown often in TV travel shows; shaped like a giant wave 15M high by around 110M long.
It is a natural drawcard for tourists as a spot for dog friendly resorts WA.
Lake Magic is also interesting as it always stays clear and has never been dry due to its composition of being a gypsum-based salt-lake.
The resort is only a 1-KM walk to Wave Rock and a popular spot for photos. They are dog friendly, but only in the Caravan Park section of the resort but this is an interesting adventure rather than a luxury one.
