About a 2-hour drive North of Cairns is the Daintree Ferry that takes you to the Northern side of the Daintree River; the gateway to the Daintree National park and places such as Cape Tribulation.
This is Crocodile country; you can sometimes see them on the riverbank from the ferry so be vigilant, read and obey all the warning signs and keep your dog on a lead and close to you. They love rivers and creeks but will venture out into beach areas too and even locals say “don’t swim except in a swimming pool”.
However, to venture that far North it is a place to experience the amazing Rainforest region. Finding a place such as Daintree Rainforest Village and discover that they are dog friendly and have a choice of powered and unpowered sites is something quite unique.
Remember; as this is largely untouched rainforest there is all sorts of wildlife and your dog needs to be under your control at all times. Another interesting point is that as the crow flies you are actually closer to Pt Moresby in PNG here than you are to Mackay. What a huge state QLD is!
Dog friendly accommodation QLD style? Yes, this one is such an amazing find and a real-life experience.
