My dog Ronnie, is a lively 2-year old Doberman who adores this recipe. Aside from the Beef that I always use and the great range of grains and vegetables I think it is the Coconut Oil that has caught her nose.
Nothing like an empty food bowl every night to show her appreciation.
I have to admit I laughed when I read the recipe contents; Quinoa, Blueberries and Butternut Squash. They seemed more like something from a Health-Conscious Café recipe rather than a Dog Food Recipe.
Larry, my 3-year old Cavoodle has picked this one from the Mindiampets Dog Food Recipes as his favorite so far.
I’m really enjoying making the recipes as I know exactly what goes into the product.
Most of their recipes seem to have a 5 to 7-day shelf life; which I am OK with as I would rather feed Larry a natural product than something that has to include preservatives to get a longer shelf life. Fresh is best every time.
I must admit to having taken a double look when I caught the recipe description out of the corner of my eye. Probably what drove that was I had not considered using 3 of the 5 key ingredients – Apple, Blueberries and Kale – in dog food before.
How wrong I was; most dogs seem to like a sweet treat and my dog absolutely loves this recipe.
I’ve made it using Chicken but will try the Turkey next time.
Mind you; Boris being a Black Labrador is from a breed known to love their food, and then some, and then some more. Like the recipe says; “We would suggest this one more as a bit of a treat, so twice a week would be enough.” Very wise words.
I am working my way through some of the other recipes so that Boris gets tasty, nutritious meals. They are really economical too which is another plus.
