Spread the love
Until I found this recipe, I had no idea that dogs loved peanut butter so much and that it was OK to feed them some as a treat. I love how easy they are to bake and the inclusion of rolled oats, honey and fish oil is such a great way of getting those ingredients into their diet.
Peanut Butter Biscuits – Homemade Dog Treats With Rolled Oats and Peanut Butter
Believe it or not but dogs love peanut butter, but you need to be careful that the commercially available brands do not contain salt, additives, or spices like Chili. If you have a food processor, why not making your own using raw Peanuts and drizzle in Peanut Oil to your processor until you get the right consistency (You might even find you prefer this for yourself as well).
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Flour (white is fine but make sure your pup has no wheat allergies or intolerances)
- 1 Cup Rolled oats
- 1½ Cups Water
- ⅓ Cup Smooth Peanut Butter
- 1 tbsp Honey
- ½ tbsp Fish Oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180deg Celsius).
- Use a large mixing bowl to blend the flour and oats together.
- At this stage add 1 Cup only of the water (leaving ½ Cup). Blend until smooth.
- At this stage add 1 Cup only of the water (leaving ½ Cup). Blend until smooth.
- Add in the peanut butter, honey, and fish oil and mix until blended well.
- Slowly add the remaining ½ Cup of water until the mixture has a thick and dough-like consistency.
- Lightly flour a cooking surface and then roll the dough onto the cooking surface to create a 7-mm thick sheet.
- Create shapes you like using your favorite cookie cutter(s).
- Put some baking paper on your baking sheet before adding the uncooked biscuits.
- Bake for approximately 40 minutes, but check first at around 30 minutes.
Notes
Cool completely before feeding your dog the finished biscuits. Put the remaining biscuits into an airtight container and store in a cupboard (outside of reach for your dog).
