Spread the love
I have an admission to make about the Mindiampets Dog Food Recipes Homemade Dog Style Beef Stew. It smelled so good while cooking that I grabbed a spoon and tasted it.
It was a little bland for me, based on my usual human version is made using Onions and Garlic and their omission along with Salt and Pepper is probably what is responsible for my taste receptors on the tongue wanting more.
However, this was an excellent reminded for me that Dogs should never be given Garlic, Onions or anything else from the Onion family.
Certainly, my two Schnauzer’s (Hank and Hilda) seem to love it exactly as per the recipe and that’s all that matters to me.
Homemade Dog Style Beef Stew
We would actually suggest making a batch of beef bone broth first; using bones from your local butcher. No onions or garlic of course. Once made, strain to ensure no bone fragments
are present. Allow to cool and portion for freezing or using fresh. This is a nutrition-rich way of getting a “gravy” for the stew.

Notes
Serve when cool. Will keep (covered) in the fridge for up to five days.

This sounds and looks very yummy and I would love to treat my girls occasionally. What would the serving size be for a six pound Schnauzer and 22 pound King Cavalier?
One cup of stew for each dog, store in the fridge and serve every other day. I also cook up ground meat (boiled to remove the fat), veggies and brown rice with added olive oil, and kelp help. Beef stew is a nice treat for dogs especially if it very meaty, they eat the veggies since they taste like beef
Thank you for the recipe. My sister’s elderly dog loved it. Instead of making gravy, I used the broth to make brown rice. Both edible for dog and man.
This recipe is crazy. I just wasted a ton of pricey meat trying this. I should have known better when it said 1/2 cup of flour and 1/2 cup water. That’s impossible unless you want paste. Now I have a pan full of flour tasting gooop. Maybe I’m missing something? I really wanted to make this for my picky eater but all I can taste is flour and it turned into a nightmare. I’d love to hear back incase their is something I’m missing or did wrong.
Thanks for the feedback, we have updated the article to 1/5 cup of flour. We hope you can check it out again and try another recipe from our blog.
How do u cook just add water woman recipe is awesome
Hi–You need to update your recipe again. It calls for 1/2 cup water or organic vegetable oil…..
I have a 10 year old Siberian husky and it says you can give them raw meat on the bone cows hoof ect i tried and she wont eat it she wont eat frozen or fresh vegetables shed rather eat what we eat which is no good for her ive seen loads of same breed eat bones and vegetables but she walks away?
are you nuts with the flour ?
what is wrong with you ? You should avoid feeding grains of any sort to your dog! There’s enough sugars in all other veggies. They should ban you from keeping dogs. And you’re adjusting the recipe !!! NO!
You can add certain types of flour including whole grain flour such as barley, millet, oats. This is an option and I would avoid it if you think it is best for your dog. We only offer optional ingredients.
Thank you for your recipe! My dog loves stew. And my vet says grains healthy for your dog OK. Although some dogs just like humans have an intolerance but you not speak to your vet about that.
