Douglas River is on the east coast of Tasmania; around a 10-minute drive north of Bicheno. It is also close for day trips to Bay of Fires or Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay.

Each cottage at Sandpiper Ocean Cottages is private, thanks to being spread out over 4-acres of coastal gardens. It is a short walk through the dunes to Denison Beach. The cottages are all self-equipped; kitchens, laundry, deck, BBQ. Aside from the 4 x 2-bedroom cottages there is also a 1-bedroom cottage or even a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house on its own private 40-acre grounds.

Well-behaved dogs are permitted; there is a $10 fee per dog, per cottage. Each deck is gated. They are permitted inside – not on beds and not to roam the grounds.

Bruny Island offers a perfect destination for a getaway; yet is as easy drive south from Hobart and short ferry ride away. Getting back to nature is a key drawcard, as are pursuits such as exploring history, amazing walks and there are also lots of boutique food providers to explore around the island.

This property is dog friendly, subject to availability and prior arrangement with the owner. It is a cosy cabin with fantastic view. It is in an elevated position in Alonnah, the main town on the island.

Stanley is a small NW Coast town famous for “The Nut” that sticks up out of the ocean and can be reached by cable car. There are many preserved colonial buildings. It is around 75KM west of Burnie. It is close to the Rocky Cape National Park and about a 1-hour drive to the Arthur River.

The Stanley Lakeside property has direct access to the Stanley West Inlet. In addition, the private spa cottages are located on the edge of their own saltwater lake. They are pet friendly and it always is best to get approval for your pet prior to making your booking.

Brickendon Historic Farm & Gardens – Longford, South of Launceston

Within the Northern Midlands area of Tasmania is the town of Longford; around 21KM south of Launceston and is at the junction of the Macquarie and South Esk rivers.

Brickendon is a World Heritage listed colonial farm village around 3KM outside of Longford. There are many farm animals on the property; pets are allowed subject to prior arrangement, availability and approval before you make your booking.

Ratho Farm

Ratho Farm - Bothwell

Bothwell is a small town in Central Tasmania on the River Clyde. Scenery, fishing and hunting are the big drawcards to this area as is architecture, with over 50 buildings in the town being heritage listed.

Ratho Farm consists of various restored cottages and farm buildings. It is a popular wedding and events venue and another major feature is that it is built on an 18-hold links golf course. The booking page advertises the property as dog friendly and we would suggest gaining approval prior to making your booking.

Glenbrook House

Glenbrook House – Penguin

Penguin is a town on Tasmania’s north west coast. The towns name suggests what the major attraction is and they are right, with a Penguin Rookery close by. There are some lovely scenic walks in the area too.

Glenbrook house is a lovely old property and it is their old miner’s cottage that is pet friendly, subject to approval and availability. It is self-contained with 2-bedrooms, kitchen and fenced yard for your dog.

Classic Cottages – Port Arthur

Port Arthur is on the Tasman Peninsula and is a town and former convict settlement. It is a UNESCO World Heritage property. It is around 97KM from Hobart; a drive of 90 minutes.

This property is one of those quaint places to just escape from the rat race and chill out. Being dog friendly is such a great bonus.

This laid-back town makes and ideal base while you explore the Tasmanian wilderness.

Your hosts Kerry and Kellie have 4 different properties around the town; all are pet friendly. One cottage is an old Church conversion, another is the former Police Superintendents 2-bedroom cottage and the 1-bedroom Sir John Cottage. At the time of writing the 1-bedroom Henty cottage was closed for renovations. What a great opportunity to stay in such historical properties.

Zeehan is a west coast town, north of Strahan and Queenstown and around 139KM SW of Burnie. There is mine history through the town and the valleys surrounding it. In its heyday it was nicknamed “Silver City”.

The Zeehan Bush Camp is small, and consists of Cabin, Glamping and Camping options. They are pet friendly however, you will need to contact them prior to making any booking.

Drumreagh B&B and Farmstay

Deloraine is situated in the central north, around 50KM west of Launceston and 52KM south of Devonport. The Meander River flows through the town, adding natural beauty to a town that also has a heritage-listed streetscape. A picture postcard spot.

Drumreagh B&B and Farmstay is only 2.5KM outside of town, has many different farm animals as well as the natural fauna that they share the property with. Accommodation is a 2-bedroom annex or in one of the 2 cabins. You will need to discuss your requirements for your dog prior to booking.
