The Top 16 – Homemade dog treats with rolled oats

By now you have been searching for some homemade dog treats with rolled oats to bake up something delicious for your pooch.

We have listed a ton of our best recipes for your furry friend all of which contain rolled oats, most are treats and snacks but we also have some main meal type dog food.

Rolled oats are the perfect ingredient for dogs as they promote healthy digestions, all of our recipes vary with other healthy and nutritious foods such as pumpkin, cheese, liver, bacon, basically all of the ingredients you could find in your friend or pantry.

We especially like the homemade dog treats with rolled oats and peanut butter, which are super tasty according to our pet dog (Winston) I bake this one up once a fortnight and use them as rewards when he is the goodest boy.

You can get creative with these baked treats by using different cookie cutters in the shape of hearts or bones.

Baking treats for your dog can be so rewarding for both you as the owner and your pet as you know what exactly is going into their food, instead of processed food you buy in a can or from the supermarket.

If you are really picky about what your dog eats you can go with organic options and only use filtered water for all of our recipes, which we have already stated in the ingredients section.

So next time you’re looking for a healthy snack for your dog, reach for the rolled oats, bookmark this page or print out out and give these homemade treats a try!

Notes

Whether you use brown or white rice flour, it can be tricky to work with. Its texture is almost sandy to the touch, and it forms a dough that crumbles easily.
Although it can be frustrating to use, rice flour is recommended for dogs with wheat and corn allergies. If your dog can tolerate wheat flour, all the recipes in this section can be modified accordingly.

Ingredients

  • 1 Small Sweet Potato
  • 1 Cup Carrots (Minced)
  • 1 Medium Banana
  • ½ Cup Unsweetened Organic Applesauce
  • 2 Cups Whole meal flour (white is okay if your dog has allergies)
  • 1 Cup Rolled Oats
  • Cup Water

Instructions

  • Cook the sweet potato in the microwave for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the insides are soft. This can vary, so test with a skewer around 6 minutes. Set aside to cool fully.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180deg Celsius).
  • While the oven is heating, get a large mixing bowl and add the Banana and Sweet Potato. Use a hand masher until they are smooth.
  • Add the Carrots, Flour, and Rolled Oats.
  • You are looking for a soft dough consistency, so slowly add the applesauce and water while mixing; being careful not to make too wet.
  • Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface until it is 3-4mm thick (similar to commercially bought pastry sheets).
  • Cut the dough into strips and place on a baking sheet to bake for around 25 minutes.
  • Allow to cool fully before letting your dog have some.

Notes

The leftover strips should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.

Homemade Dog Food Crockpot Chicken Recipe

David
This recipe uses “No-added Salt” liquid Chicken Stock which you could buy commercially. However, with care at home, by eliminating Onions and Garlic, as well as straining the broth to remove bones and bone fragments you could make your own. Make a batch and freeze what you don’t use, so that all you have to do is reheat next time.
